What’s the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?

I bet you start your day with a cup of coffee – perhaps along with today’s newspaper to catch up on local news.

While staying on top of your community’s news, or even the latest news in your country, is a good thing, let’s face it – this is unproductive!

How do I start MY day?

Well, somewhat similar, but instead of catching up on the latest news and gossip, I take some time to read a couple of pages in my favorite self-help book.

I now have a few favorites, actually.

For many people, the idea of reading self-help books seems useless.

That was my attitude too until I was urged to pick up a book with quite an awkward name: “Unfu*k Yourself.”

I was skeptical, but when I started reading this book, I just couldn’t stop.

The point that I am trying to make is that self-help books really helps.

They may seem irrelevant to those who have not yet turned to one of these books, but trust me, once you start reading a couple of pages every morning, you begin to go through your days more motivated.

You start to believe in yourself, and you are ready to push your own limitations and, instead of just improving, you really expand your entire being.

I’ll have to start my list with the first self-help book I picked up – for less than $2 I might add.

The idea of this book is simple – to give you a new view on your own life and to help you feel less miserable in life. This is a genuinely no-nonsense book.

No fluff and no walking around the bushes.

All the information that you read in this book is straightforward and to the point.

The book focuses on you – the side of you that are placing limitations on what you can reach in life.

We often impose restrictions on ourselves, and this is the biggest challenge that millions (I can go on to maybe even say billions) of people are facing.

The book tells you why you are facing these challenges and, of course, what you need to do to overcome that “fu*ked upside of life.”

Another great one to pick up if you’re looking for a self-help book.

Instead of sharing with you the strategies that may help you overcome your self-imposed limitations, this book takes another angle – it shares with you seven particular habits that are often seen among people who are the most successful in life.

Many of these habits may seem somewhat obvious, but in reality, we often miss them – we see presidents, CEOs, and many other successful people exhibit these habits, yet often fail to notice how they help them reach success.

The book is written by Dr. Stephen Covey and has already received over 5,000 reviews (a 4.5/5.0 average rating).

This is really the complete guide to self-help and self-transformation – it offers so much more than many of the other books on the topic of self-help that I have read by now.

The book essentially focuses on 40 particular behavioral traits that are considered “self-defeating,” such as self-pity, guilt, obsession, and more.

#5. The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom

Another great pick for any person looking for a self-help book with valuable content.

The book was written by Don Miguel Ruiz and has an impressive number of positive reviews from past readers.

I also found this book to be interesting, providing a lot of details on why and how we limit ourselves on a daily basis.

In essence, this book tells the reader how they are robbing themselves of both success and joy in life, and then tells the reader how they can stop limiting themselves and start adopting behavior that will be beneficial for them.

This book is a must – especially for those who quickly give up after failing, which is something a lot of people do.

The author, Brené Brown explains why it is important for the reader to accept themselves – just the way they are, flaws and all, and how they can use this to their own advantage.
